Services & Consulting

Advice & Coaching

We'll meet with you to point you in the right direction: choosing seeds vs. seedlings, planting locations, building soil fertility, choosing plant varieties, when to plant, starting a compost bin, etc.

Do It With You

After deciding what you want to grow, we can work alongside you planting, weeding, thinning, pruning, etc. so that you grow your knowledge and learn the tricks of the trade.

Do It For You

If you don't have the time, desire, or physical ability to grow your own food but you still want to eat out of your own garden, we can plant it and maintain it for you.

45 MINUTE CONSULT & WRITTEN FOLLOW-UP PLAN

If you already have a sense of what you want to grow, but you need advice on what varieties grow best here, whether to plant seeds or seedlings, when is the best time to plant, and how to space things in your garden and increase your soil fertility, 45 minutes to review and advise you may be all you need to get growing.

PLANNING, DESIGN, OR COACHING

If you are starting from ground zero and you need more extensive input, we can help. Maybe you want to work some dwarf fruit trees, berries, or vegetables into your existing yard and garden space. We’ll start with what you like to eat, and help you determine what you can grow depending on your available space, sunlight, and the season. Perhaps you’ll want perennial plants that will produce year after year like asparagus, scarlet runner beans, artichokes, grapevines, or other fruit, or maybe you would prefer a rotation of different crops throughout the seasons. Together we’ll plan a garden you’ll be excited to eat from for years to come.

DWARF FRUIT TREE CARE

Fruit trees, cane berries, and fruiting vines produce markedly more if properly thinned, pruned, trained, and harvested. We can teach you how to do these things yourself or do them for you during the proper season. Services depend on the size of the tree or vines.

CHICKENS AND BEES

Have you ever wondered about raising chickens but assumed you didn't have the space, time, or ability to do it yourself? It's a lot easier than you think, and chicken coops can find a place in even small Alameda yards. Raising chickens is less time-consuming than caring for dogs or cats (we know from experience.) We can teach you everything you need to know to get started, from finding a suitable coop... to selecting and finding chicks... to evaluating space, food, and water requirements.
If you are interested in beekeeping, we can get you started on that journey too (although we can't do the beekeeping for you due to an allergy).
